Learn from Past and Current Users why the Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar is the Most Versatile and Effective Solution for Fall Prevention

As caregivers, there are no limits to what we will do to keep our aging loved ones safe and healthy. This includes finding the right safety devices and mobility aids to simplify tasks and enhance freedom. It can be difficult, however, shuffling through the myriad of categories of mobility and home medical equipment. Just like most things in life, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for home safety. Every person is unique; every home is different; and every situation has its own complexities. But that doesn’t mean an assistive device can’t be versatile, and we can’t speak of versatility without mention of the Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar.

The Security Pole (for short) is a tension-mounted transfer pole with swiveling grab bar. We love this device (and we may be a little biased) because it is the closest thing to an all-in-one solution that you can find. Don’t just take our word for it though. Here’s ten reasons why the Security Pole should be your go-to stability device as told by ten different caregivers and Security Pole-users.

    1. The Security Pole can be used Anywhere in the Home

    Best Senior Product Yet!

“My Dad is 91 and remains living at home but needs assistance getting up from a sitting position and extra stability while standing to get dressed and out from shower. I purchased one to assist getting out of bed, then three additional, one for toilet, one for dressing chair and one for outside shower door. Best product out there. Thank you and congratulations to the family who designed this for their Grandma. I never review products but this is a life saver and I want to share with others in this situation, like me and my Dad.” – Marcia

Marcia, much like caregivers everywhere, was looking for a product for her aging father to help with daily tasks such as getting up from bed, steadying while putting on clothing, and getting in and out of the shower. Traditional grab bars or other standing devices must be fastened to a wall. Because of the tension-mounted design, (more on that later), the Security Pole can be installed anywhere; even in the middle of the room where someone needs it the most. This means you can use it in the bathroom, bedroom, living room, or even the kitchen. If you’re like Maria, you can have one in every room! Few devices have the versatility of the Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar.

    2. It Helps to Transfer Positions

    Terrific product!

“My husband is wheelchair bound and has fallen 7 times this summer. We looked at the transfer boards, but they didn’t seem as practical as this pole. His physical therapist suggested that I look at this product to help him get in and out bed. He can’t walk, but he CAN pull himself up with the help of this pole. I ordered it, put it together, and installed it myself. I put the pole right next to his bed. He depends on this to get up, get in and out of bed, and to get on and off the bedside commode. I don’t know what he would do without it! So handy and doesn’t take up much space. I’m able to make his bed and the pole doesn’t hinder me at all. So glad we found out about this product! “-nativehoosier

Transferring a love one can be one of the most difficult things to do. Transferring in and out of a bed, off of a toilet, out of a bathtub, or into a chair all require balance and stability. Whether its moving from a wheelchair or from a walker rollator to a bed, the Security Pole’s swiveling handle provides a balance while the straight pole helps to ambulate.

    3. The Swiveling Grab Bar makes it Multi-functional

Don’t have to risk my life getting in and out of shower anymore!

“LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I am a 54 yr old woman with MS. This pole is the best adaptive device I have ever purchased for the home!! It is rock solid and it doesn’t look like a handicapped thing in my bathroom! I call it my “cripple stripper pole” lol It’s right outside of my shower and I finally don’t feel like I’m risking my life stepping in and out of the shower (sounds crazy but I can’t lift my legs to step over threshold without hanging on to something and there’s no wall to mount a grab bar). I have a seat next to the shower that the pole allows me to get up and down from. I can also swivel the handle and reach it from the toilet to get up and down. I’m thinking of putting more throughout my home in strategic places.” –Teri

In a traditional bathroom setup, the vanity, toilet, and bathtub are aligned next to one another. Wall-mounted grab bars are typically installed on both walls surrounding the bathtub and next to the toilet. With the Security Pole, however, the need to crowd your walls with grab bars is eliminated. Because the grab bar swivels 360°, the Security Pole can be used in multiple scenarios. When placed between the bathtub and toilet, it can be used while in the tub or shower, and then pivoted to be used when getting on and off the toilet.

    4. The Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar is easy to Install

    Easy to Install

“This product was purchased for me through the VA. I watched the technician install it and it was so easy that I purchased one for my mom. I was able to install hers all by myself. It can be installed by a single person in just a few minutes.” -MarineVet

Unlike competing products, installation of the Security Pole is very simple and easy. Everything you need for a seven to 10-foot ceiling is in the box. The pole is secured in between the floor and ceiling with tension, which is created by tightening the middle portion with the included wrench. Hardware is included in the case that you want to permanently install the pole in your home but is not required. To see how simple the assembly and installation process is, watch our assembly video below.

    5. It does not require Permanent Installation

    A Great Product!

“This is a lifesaver for my 90 year old mother that recently had hip replacement. It is heavy duty and doesn’t budge once installed. It was easy to put together. I am a woman and had no trouble. Mom lives in an independent living facility so I didn’t want to put any screws in anything. It doesn’t require that and made no marks on the ceiling after I gave it a trial run by hanging with all my weight and tugging as hard as I could on it.”  -Dr. Jane

Most bathroom grab bars and transfer poles require being screwed into a wall or ceiling. That means damaging your home with permanent holes and scuff marks. You may be caretaking for someone in a care facility or maybe even hosting a parent in your own home. These are situations where permanent grab bars are less than ideal. The Security Pole is mounted with tension and doesn’t require any holes or screws, making it a perfect temporary solution. The top beam distributes the tension to the four corners of the “I”, which means you don’t need to find a ceiling joist when installing. The padded top and bottom saves your floor and ceiling from any scuffing or marking.

    6. The Security Pole is Strong and Durable

Much more stable than I expected!

“I am 93 and often struggle getting up off of our couch when watching TV with my wife of almost 71 years. This was recommended to me by a friend and my son installed it for us. I was sold on the stability when our 280-pound son used the pole to jerk himself out of the chair beside the couch and it didn’t budge! The curved handle is very helpful as it allows me to grip one way when sitting down to slow my drop and another way to help me stand up. I wish I would have learned about this a couple of years ago, it would have had a huge impact on my mobility in the home! We are thinking about getting a couple more for the bedroom and bathroom.” -Jack

The Security Pole is made of a powder-coated aluminum which makes is durable and strong. The pole and swiveling grab bar can support up to 300 pounds of lateral force. We recommend keeping the included wrench and tightening the pole every few months to prevent settling and to keep the pole tightened. With such durability, you can be confident that your loved one won’t fall.

    7. It Boosts Confidence in the User

Do you care for a loved one

“My wife and I will be married 55 years come this Christmas eve. I am 76 and my wife is 73. On October 31st of this year she suffered a stroke. She came home March 1st. It was apparent to me immediately that getting her in and out of bed was going to be a real big problem. I bought the pole and set it up next to her bed. She began using the pole with total confidence, I can’t even begin to tell you what a huge difference the pole has made in our lives. It’s safe, strong and dependable. I would recommend this device to anyone who is in the same situation.” -John

As a caregiver, you know that nothing is more valuable for your loved one that confidence. Losing mobility, having chronic conditions, or experience a fall are all disheartening events that decrease one’s confidence in their abilities. Having sturdy, reliable assistive devices around the home to help them be self-reliant and safe boosts self-confidence and happiness. The Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar placed around the home creates a sense of assurance and peace of mind for both the user and caregiver.

    8. It offers Privacy and Independence to its Users

    Great Safety Accessory

“I purchased this Safety Pole with Curved Grab Bar for my nonagenarian parents to help them in and out of the step-down walk-in shower. The pole is extremely stable. It is very simple to install. It is truly adjustable for ceilings from 7 feet to 10 feet. This provides my 90-year-old parents the safety they need for showering while still allowing them privacy. I highly recommend it.” -Jeff

One of the greatest burdens of aging is the lack of privacy and independence. Daily tasks that used to be easy, such as getting dressed, bathing, or going to the bathroom, now require assistance from a caregiver. Losing privacy can diminish self-esteem and overall quality of life. Having the Security Pole in a bathroom or bedroom allows your loved one to maintain privacy in private moment and allow them to perform daily tasks independently.

    9. It Helps to Ease the Burden of a Caregiver

Save your elderly loved one and whomever is helping them get up and down a lot of struggle and pain. HIGHLY recommend!!!

“Just bought our second one after using the first in the bedroom for a year. A true help for elderly people who need assistance in and out of bed or chair. My Dad has a great deal of weakness and is now almost entirely wheelchair bound. This pole saves him and whoever is assisting him a lot of struggle and pain.” -Judyrh

Often lost in caring for an aging adult is the mental health and physical toll of the caregiver themselves. Caretaking is a quality that requires nurturing patience and endurance. It can require long hours and expending much physical strength. With the Security Pole and Curve Grab Bar, caregivers can have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are working independently while saving their bodies from over-expending energy.

    10. It Matches the Look and Feel of a Home

    Very Helpful and Highly Recommend!

“This is going to be my second purchase of the pole. I got the first one years ago and I use it by the bath tub. My doctor had advised grab bars in the bathroom. I researched all kinds of grab bars. They were all basically the same: a bar attached permanently to the wall (suction doesn’t work on my walls or tub surround). And there was no way to have them situated right beside the tub where I needed them the most. They have to be on a wall. Plus, I’d have to purchase several of them for various locations. It got expensive. Then I found this bad boy. Perfect! Right in front of my tub where I need it the most. It twirls around 360 degrees so it works from every angle. My toilet is situated beside the tub so the pole is installed between the tub and the toilet so it works for the toilet, too. And it looks cool. It doesn’t make my home look like a hospital or nursing home like multiple grab bars might (I’ve had enough of those places and I don’t need my home to look like one of them.) And this pole is super super strong. I’m not a light weight and I have no problems with this pole.” -Jill

Nursing homes and senior living communities can be great options for certain individuals. No matter how great the experience though, they will never be home. Most seniors prefer to stay in the comfort of their own homes where they are surrounded by their possessions. Most commodity assistive devices can ruin that comfortable feeling by making the home feel institutionalized or even hospital-like. Preserving the homely feeling can go a long way in maintaining morale and happiness. The Security Pole’s contemporary look supersedes the negative connotation that can be given by wall-mounted grab bars.
